MUSKOGEE – Lexi Armon fired off a career low 70 to carry the RiverHawks into the lead at its Central Region Preview. Northeastern State’s 298 on Tuesday also gave them a three-shot lead at the Muskogee Country Club.
Armon’s 70 is the team’s second lowest individual score of the season and put the senior into the lead by one-stroke.
The RiverHawks had tournament high 11 birdies, with four coming from Ebba Moberg who is tied for third overall with a 73. Aitana Hernandez is three strokes back of Moberg tied for 16th. Halie Wright carded a 79 and Kelsey Lumpkin carded an 83.
Playing as an individual, Nina Lee is tied for 16th with a 76.
This week’s fall season finale is a preview and a test run for teams who might qualify for the NCAA Regional in May, which will be hosted by NSU on the same course.
Central Missouri is three back of the RiverHawks with a 301, and Southwestern Oklahoma is third shooting a 302.
Should NSU come through with a team win on Wednesday, it will be their second of the season. Even though this is not a traditional event that Northeastern State hosts, they have not won a home tournament since 2012.
The RiverHawks will tee-off on the front nine starting at 10:30 a.m. paired with Central Missouri and Southwestern Oklahoma.
