OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University has added Blayne Barker and Adeline Norton to its 2019-20 women’s golf recruiting class.
Barker and Norton join the Stars after finishing in the top 10 of their respective state tournaments. Oklahoma City owns eight national championships.
In May, Barker collected a seventh-place finish in the Class 5A girls state tournament at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Okla. Barker, from Durant, Okla., carded a 78. She won regional medalist last year and grabbed VYPE all-SEOK honors.
Norton has paced Plainview (Okla.) to the past two Class 4A state championships. Norton turned in a sixth-place showing with a 79-76–155 at Lake Hefner’s South Course in Oklahoma City in May. In June, Norton tied for fourth place in the 62nd annual Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament in Wichita Falls, Texas. Norton took all-SWOK acclaim from VYPE. Norton is coached by Taylor Howard, who became a two-time all-American playing for the Stars from 2009-13.
Oklahoma City has won the NAIA title in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2017. Coach Marty McCauley has guided OCU to its last three national championships. The NAIA Championships will take place May 14-17, 2019 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
