AMARILLO, Texas – Cameron held steady through the final round of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational finishing the tournament where they started the day in third place. The Aggies shot a 885 (301+287+297) in the three round invitational narrowly missing the second place team St. Mary’s by four strokes.

Sophomore Daniel Nielsen paced the CU group after carding a 1-under for the day and finished tied for sixth place overall with a 219 (75+73+71). Nielsen played in his first tournament for the Aggies after transferring from Ranger JC.
Zander Winston climbed up 12 spots from his Monday round and was tied for 16th overall after shooting a 222 (77+73+72); he also paced the leaderboard with a invite high 38 pars.
Justin Jang and Quinton Tews finished one stroke apart from each other with Jang carding a 226 (71+75+80) and Tews at 227 (78+73+76).
Freshman Devin Whipple shot the second lowest round on Monday with a 68 but scored a 78 in the final 18 holes to round out the CU five with a 230.
Cameron had two individuals playing for the first time with Dario Gabriel shooting a 232 (77+80+75) and Mac Rochell scoring a 241 (84+80+77).
Newman’s James Bolton was the individual winner of the invite shooting a 211, beating two golfers from Wayland Baptist but they would take the team title by 23 strokes.
Cameron will have week off before the will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. to place in an invitational hosted by Western New Mexico.
