College roundup: OC, RSU, SWOSU wrap up tourneys

AUSTIN, Texas (March 28, 2017) – Ryan Trousdale fired a 2-over-par 72 to lead Oklahoma Christian on the final day of the St. Edward’s Invitational on Tuesday at Onion Creek Club.

Trousdale, a sophomore from Norman, had three birdies during his round and rose six spots in the final standings, finishing tied for 43rd overall with a three-round score of 221.

Sophomore Ethan Smith was the Eagles’ highest individual finisher, tying for 24th in the 73-man field at 217 after shooting a final-round 75 on the 6,530-yard course. Also shooting a 75 on Tuesday was sophomore Juan Pallach, who tied for 34th overall at 220.

Junior Eric Hill‘s 76 left him at 225, in 54th place, while freshman Michael Robinson shot an 84 and placed 64th at 233.

OC finished 10th in the 13-team field at 879 after a final-day score of 298. Midwestern State (Texas) took the team title with a score of 849, while Midwestern State’s Jared Baker and Missouri Southern’s Connor Neil tied for top individual honors at 204, with Baker winning a two-hole playoff.

Rogers State finished in 13th place despite two golfers finishing in the top 10 individually.

Senior Eric Moore shot an impressive 3-under par 67 in the final round to tie for sixth place at 2-over par for the 54-hole tournament. The Tulsa, Okla. native shot 73-72 in the opening day of play Monday on the par 70 course.

Hagen Barmasse struggled in the final round with a 77 after firing 70-66 in the opening two rounds. The Houston, Texas native finished in a tie for tenth after entering the final round tied for first place at 4-under par.

Patrick Bart finished tied for 69th after shooting 81.  Brendon Pittman shot 89 in the final 18 holes for a 253. Alex Marsh was impressive after a disqualification in the first round as the junior shot 71 in round two and closed out with a 3-over par 73 on Tuesday.


SWOSU finishes 13th in Barry Invitational

MIAMI, Fla.Southwestern Oklahoma State finished 13th at the Barry Invitational that was played on The Senator Course at Shula’s Golf Club in Miami, Florida. Gloria Choi was the top golfer for the Dawgs in the tournament, shooting par once in three rounds for the only even score on the team.

Choi shot 224for the tournament, finishing rounds one and two on Monday with a 1-over 73 and a 79 before carding the best score of any SWOSU player of 72 on Tuesday in the final round. Her score was good enough for 24th overall out of 91 participants across 15 teams and 17 other individuals.

Elin Wahlin ended six shots higher than Choi with a 230 shot total for the tournament, finishing second on the team and 42nd overall. Jenna Eidem (236, +20) and Chloe Thackeray (237, +21) finished a stroke apart from each other in their three-round totals as the other two scoring players for the Dawgs, while Emily Folsom rounded out the team with a 253 final score.

Rollins College took the Barry Invitational Championship by ending with a team score of 871, 10 shots lower than host school Barry who placed second. Tilda Larsson from Barry signed the best cards in the tournament, finishing two under (214, -2) through three rounds including a 69 (-3) in the final round.

The Bulldogs will be back in action in their final tournament before the GAC Championship on April 10-11 in Springfield, Missouri at the Central Region Spring Preview.
