Cowgirls build huge lead in Dallas

DALLAS – The Oklahoma State women’s golf team is poised to defend its SMU/DAC Invitational title as they lead by 18 strokes with 18 holes to play.
 
The No. 10 ranked Cowgirls continued their hot play that has seen them finish in the top five in four straight events, including a victory in their last outing, the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
 
Last year, OSU won the SMU/DAC Invite for the second time in the event’s three-year history. On Saturday, the Cowgirls can make it three victories in four years in Dallas.
 
Emma Broze led the way for the Cowgirls shooting rounds of 73 and 70 to enter the final round in second place at 1-under par.
 
The Cowgirls hold the clubhouse lead at 2-over. They are ahead of second place UNLV by 18 strokes. Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas holds the individual lead at 7-under.
 
Kenzie Neisen shot a 4-over 76 on her first 18 holes but simply caught fire in the second round of the day. The sophomore shot a scorching 68 in the second round to finish tied for 3rd at even par.
 
Maddie McCrary finished the day tied for 6th following rounds of 74 and 71. The sophomore is in the hunt for her third straight top five individual finish.
 
Linnea Johansson shot rounds of 75 and 74 and and sits tied for 16th at 5-over.
 
Chih-Min Chen shot a second round of 80 following an opening round of 73 and is tied for 34th at 9-over.
 
Isabella Deilert and Alexis Sadeghy are both competing individually. Deilert finishes the day tied for 9th at 2-over posting rounds of 71 and 75 and Sadeghy is tied for 24th after rounds of 75 and 76.
