Cowgirls repeat as champs in Hawaii, McCrary takes second individually

KANE’OHE, Hawaii – The Oklahoma State Cowgirl golf team held off the field to win the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational for a second straight season and for the fifth time in their history.
 
The Cowgirls were tied with Texas A&M at 4-under 860 at the end of 54 holes, but OSU was declared the winner based on the score of both team’s fifth-place finisher. OSU’s Chih-Min Chen finished in 17th place with a 5-over 221, which was one stroke better than the Aggie’s fifth place finisher, Andrea Jonama.
 
Maddie McCrary matched her season best finish at 5-under, which helped her tie for second place. The sophomore shot a final round of even par to cap off her third straight top five finish.
 
The Wylie, Texas, native has now finished second in back-to-back events.
 
Thanya Pattamakijsak of Texas A&M took home the individual title finishing at 8-under.
 
Linnea Johansson birdied seven times during her final round of 71. Her 7th place finish marks her third top ten finish of the season. The redshirt junior ends the tournament with 15 birdies, which was the second highest total in the field.
 
The Cowgirls as a team holed the most birdies during the tournament with 54. They also led the field in par 4 and par 5 scoring.
 
Kenzie Neisen finished tied for 8th after shooting a final round of 74. This marks her highest finish on the season and her second top ten overall.
 
Emma Broze earned her first top ten finish of the season finishing alone in 10th at 2-over, while shooting a final round 75.
 
Freshmen Chih-Min Chen finished 17th at 5-over and shot a final round 74.
 
Competing individually, Alexis Sadeghy finishes tied for 40th and Isabella Deilert finishes tied for 77th.
 
The Cowgirls will be back in action on April 1 at the SMU/DAC Invitational in Dallas.
