Former Oklahoma State All-American Ian Davis moved up into a tie for eighth place with a second consecutive 69 in second stage qualifying for the 2016 Web.com Tour at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
The top 21 and ties in the field of 78 players will advance to the final stage Dec. 10-13 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The 72-hole second stage concludes Friday.
Former University of Oklahoma star Hunter Haas is tied for fourth place at 7-under after rounds of 67-70.
Currently outside the top 21 but in striking range are Talor Gooch of Midwest City, tied for 34th at 2-under after rounds of 73-69; Matt Mabrey, a University of Tulsa grad from Little Rock, tied for 42nd at 1-under (69-74), former TU player and Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Champion Stephen Carney, also tied for 42nd at 1-under (70-73), and Blake Trimble, an Oklahoma City native and former Southern Nazarene star, tied for 50th at even par (73-71). Jason Meece of Newcastle has struggled to rounds of 79-76.
At a second of the five second-stage events, this one in Kingwood, Texas, former TU player Chris Worrell is one-shot outside the top 21 at 2-under after rounds of 70-72. Tulsan Charlie Saxon, who recently completed his career at OU, is tied for 29th at 1-under after rounds of 73-70 and former OU teammate Mike Schoolcraft is tied for 35th at even par (70-74).
With more ground to make up are James Marchesani, former Oklahoma City University star, 2-over and tied for 55th after rounds of 71-75, and Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City and TU, tied for 73rd at 7-over (76-75).
