Eckroat advances to quarterfinals in U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – Austin Eckroat of Edmond won five of the first six holes and easily dispatched Arjun Puri of India 7 and 5 Thursday morning in the round of 32 in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at the Honors Course.

In his first-round match Wednsday,  the Oklahoma State commit built a four-hole lead early and held on for a 4 and 2 victory over Brandon Mancheno of Jacksonville, Fla. Eckroat will play in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.
