Two-time Oklahoma State All-American and former tw0-time Class 6A champion Austin Eckroat of Edmond will square off against one of the rising stars of Oklahoma junior golf when he faces Luke Morgan of Guthrie in one semifinal match of the OGA State Amateur Championship Wednesday morning at Oak Tree National.
Eckroat rolled into the semifinals with a 5 and 4 victory over Zander Tway of Tuttle in the round of 16 and then survived a tough match with a 2 up victory over Jared Strathe of Owasso.
Morgan, the current Class 5A champion from Guthrie who competed last week in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, got past Sam Humphreys of Edmond 4 and 3 and then edged Casey Bray of Owasso 1 up in the quarterfinals.
The other semifinal will pit current Class 6A champion Jordan Wilson of Edmond North against former University of Oklahoma golfer Ben Klaus.
Wilson knocked off No. 2 seed Andrew Goodman 1 up and then defeated Daniel Langley of Shawnee 4 and 3. Klaus advanced with a victory in 19 holes over Heston Brown of Cordell and 2 and 1 over Carson Griggs of Sand Springs.
Semifinals will begin at 8 a.m. at Oak Tree National followed by the final match around noon.
