Veteran Lawrence Field joined a couple of young guns in shooting 4-under 68 to lead the field in the second of two qualifiers for the upcoming Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship.

Field was matched by John Ryan Bonaobra of Broken Arrow, who last weekend won the Tulsa Golf Association City Championship at LaFortune Park. And by Casey Paul of Tahlequah, who plays for Northeastern State University.

They finished one shot better than four golfers in Brody King of Tulsa, Nick Pierce of Sallisaw, Kyle Peterson of Bixby and Patrick West of Jenks, who all shot 69.

Oklahoma State’s Hayden Wood was among five golfers to shoot 70. There was a playoff for the final spots at 74 and Mike Hughett, the most decorated amateur in OGA history, was among those to advance. Levi Molini and Reagan Streck, son of PGA Tour veteran Ron Streck, are the alternates.

The State Amateur Championship is July 17-19 at The Patriot in Owasso.
