Fowler, Johnson added to field for Patriot Cup

OWASSO, Okla. – The Patriot Cup has added local favorite Rickie Fowler and 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson to the playing field for the fourth annual Patriot Cup on May 27 at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso. Tickets for the golf event are $35 each for adults and are available through Children 16 and under, as well as active and non-active military personnel with military ID, are free.

The Patriot Cup benefits Owasso-based Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and dependents of military members killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Folds of Honor has raised more than $25 million and awarded more than 3,800 scholarships.
“Once again, the Patriot Cup will have one of the strongest pro-am fields,” said Rooney. “This is a testament to how much these great players support our military families and the mission of our organization.”
Fowler and Johnson join a field that now includes eight former major winners of the PGA Championship, British Open, Masters and U.S. Open confirmed to participate. They include:

Rich Beem – 2002 PGA Championship

Zach Johnson, 2007 Masters

Tom Lehman – 1996 British Open

Corey Pavin – 1995 U.S. Open

Scott Simpson – 1987 U.S. Open

Craig Stadler – 1982 Masters

"There are not many events that can boast such an accomplished group of players and we are pleased that golf fans in the Tulsa area will be able to watch them play on Memorial Day," said Major Dan Rooney, founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. "They are all great Americans and we appreciate the support they are giving to the families of those who have served this country."

Presented by Budweiser, the Patriot Cup pairs each of the participating 38 PGA TOUR professionals, Champions Tour players and celebrities with an active or non-active military golfer and a Folds of Honor donor in a three-player match play event, pitting the Air Force against the other three divisions of the Armed Forces (Army, Marines and Navy). The competition will be filmed by NBC Sports/Golf Channel for a special to air later in the year.
