Gellerman, Haas have strong starts in Second Stage event

Former Oklahoma Sooners Michael Gellerman and Hunter Haas each shot 6-under par 66s Wednesday in the first round of a second stage qualifying event for the Tour at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney Texas.

The leader is Michael Davan at 8-under. Gellerman and Haas are tied for sixth. The top 19 will advance to the final stage Dec. 8-11 and earn at least some playing status on the 2017 Tour.

Trent Whitekiller of Sallisaw is tied for 16th at 4-under, Dillon Rust of Edmond is tied for 25th at 3-under, while Taylor Gooch of Midwest City and Will Kropp of Edmond are tied for 34th at 2-under. Cameron Meyers of Edmond shot even-par 72 and is tied for 60th and former Oklahoma State golfer Kevin Dougherty is tied for 75 at 3-over.
