Oklahoma City will be the place to be when the girls high school state championships are held Wednesday and Thursday.
The Class 6A championship is at Earlywine Park, Class 5A at Lincoln Park West and Class 4A at Lake Hefner South, all Oklahoma City-owned public courses. The other two are not far away either, with Class 3A at Westwood Park in Norman and Class 2A at Aqua Canyon in Guthrie.
Defending team champions are Edmond North in Class 6A, Duncan in 5A, Plainview in 4A, Purcell in 3A and Tishomingo in 2A. All five of the individual champions have moved on to college. On a tremendous individual run coming into the state championships is Kingfisher’s Maddi Kamas, who has won seven consecutive tournaments including her 4A regional.
Other top individuals to watch for include Taylor Towers of Rejoice Christian, Raychel Nelke of Pocola, Sydney Hermann of Ponca City, Emma Shelley of Bartlesville, Alyssa Wilson of Yukon, Jenni Roller of Regent Prep, Adeline Norton of Plainview, Lilly Whitley of Edmond Memorial and Blayne Barker of Durant.
All events are open to spectators free of charge.
