Goodin honored with Jim Wade Award at OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY  –  Oklahoma City University honored Hunter Marcum and Caroline Goodin as the 2015-16 Jim Wade Award winners, which go to the Stars’ male and female student-athletes of the year.

Goodin and Marcum were among several Stars recognized in the 11th annual Jim Wade Student-Athlete Awards on Wednesday at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music.
Jim Wade Award winners annually get chosen by OCU’s athletic department as those who best represent the Stars both on and off the field of competition and reflect the spirit of the award’s namesake, Gen. Jim Wade.

A senior baseball player from Purcell, Okla., Marcum has led OCU to atop the Sooner Athletic Conference and currently ranked 13th in the NAIA. Marcum has posted a 3.67 cumulative grade-point average. He has graduated with his bachelor’s degree and is pursuing a master’s degree in accounting.

Goodin, a junior women’s golfer from Oklahoma City, has spurred the Stars to two victories and the No. 5 national ranking this season. Goodin took her first collegiate individual crown while leading OCU to a program-record 30-shot margin of victory in the Claud Jacobs Invitational on Feb. 14-15, earning her second career SAC golfer of the week honor. Goodin maintains a 3.926 GPA majoring in accounting.

Wade is a former OCU baseball, basketball and football player and OCU Athletic Hall of Famer. Wade was a general in the U.S. Air Force who was decorated for service in the Korean War. OCU’s baseball field, athletic office suites and soccer press box bear his name.
