Every year, the young men and women in the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Championship put up scores that are more astounding than the last.

Carson Griggs of Sand Springs took it to a new level Tuesday with a 9-under 61 on the second day of stroke play. Griggs, who has signed with the University of Denver, came from five shots off the pace to win the stroke play portion and become the No. 1 seed for match play.

Griggs birdied the final four holes to complete a nine birdie, no bogey round, set a new course record and OGA Junior record and overtake Connor Wilson of Edmond, who followed up his opening 65 with a 68 to shoot 7-under 133.

Jaxon Dowell of Edmond (69-66) and Grayson Wallace of Guymon (69-66) tied for third at 5-under 135.

Defending champion Yujeong Son of Norman was low qualifier in the girls bracket, following an opening round 68 with a 4-under 66. ShaeBug Scarberry shot 68-74 and finished second at 142.

The top 16 seeds in boys 16-18, boys 14-15 and girls advanced to match play which began today. Here is a link to the match play brackets. Overall stroke play scores are below.
