Hanna downs OSU commit Stevens to win Kansas Amateur

Chase Hanna, who turned 19 on Sunday, got the best of Wichita junior golfer Sam Stevens by a 5 and 3 margin in the 36-hole final match of the 103rd Kansas Amateur on Sunday at Indian Hills Country Club.

Stevens, who turned 17 on July 4th, has one year of high school left before taking his talents to Stillwater to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys golf team.  The battle between the talented junior golfers was all square after the morning 18-hole session.

Hanna used early birdies in the afternoon session to take control of the match and built a sizable lead before closing out Stevens on the 33rd hole.  Hanna, who will play for the Kansas Jayhawks golf team in the fall, adds to his trophy case this summer having already won the 54th Kansas Boys Junior Amateur title last month as well as the Missouri Junior Amateur crown.
