DALLAS, Texas – The Rogers State women’s golf team closed day one of the Dallas Baptist Women’s Classic in 10th place at The Golf Club of Dallas Monday.
Playing their final tournament of the fall season, the Hillcats posted a team score of 301, facing a heavy dose of regional and Heartland Conference competition.
Mica Eastin led RSU by firing a 1-over-par 73 on the 6,011-yard course to tie for 18th place totaling three birdies. She ranked third in the field of 84 by playing 1-under-par on the four par-three holes, including a birdie on her first hole of the day.
Using three birdies of her own, Raquel Trevino finished just one shot behind Eastin with a 2-over-par 74. The senior fired a 4.50 scoring average on par five’s going 2-under-par to finish day one tied for 24th.
Kina Boone and Elizabeth McCloskey carded matching rounds of 77, but took different routes for the final score. Boone posted three birdies on her round with two coming on back-to-back holes on the back nine, while McCloskey tallied 13 pars. Stirling Phillips capped the day for the navy and red with a round of 79 and matched McCloskey for the team lead with 13 pars.
Ann Parmerter of the host Patriots, Kamryn Cummings from Angelo State, and Marvi Monsalve of California Baptist are tied for the individual lead firing rounds of 4-under-par 68. St. Mary’s (291) has a two-shot lead for the team title ahead of Newman (293).
The Hillcats close their fall season Tuesday with round two at The Golf Club of Dallas starting with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
