Horner leads Savage Storm to Texoma Championship, RSU fourth

KINGSTON, Okla. – Mason Horner fired a final round 69 rally from four-stroke deficit to win the individual title at the Texoma Championship, and in the process helped rally Southeastern from a four-stroke deficit as a team to win the team title as well.
 
It is the second time the Savage Storm have won their own tournament, and the first career tournament victory for Horner.
 
Horner finished with a two-under par 214 for the tournament, shooting eight-under over the final two rounds of the tournament, beating second place Blake Elliott from Paris JC by one stroke.
 
Marcos Sevilla Suarez turned in a one-over par 73 in his final round to finish his event with a 223 and take fifth place, marking his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments.
 
Guillermo Retana and Collin Thompson each finished 12 over for the week in a tie for 12th after firing three-round totals of 228.
 
Retana did so with a 75 in his final round, while Thompson finished with a 74.
 
Zach James rounded out the five team players with a 75 in his final trip around to finish 13-over par for the event with a 229 to place 16th.
 
Hayden Foster finished in a tie for 20th playing as an individual with a final round score of 75 to fire a three-round total of 232.
 
Trevor Proctor finished out the Storm roster with a 75 in his final round as well to card a 54-hole score of 235 and finish 28th.
 
SE entered the final round as a team trailing by four strokes, but carded a 290 on the final day to not only rally past Paris JC, but win its home event by 10 strokes with a total score of 891.
 
PJC slipped from the lead with a 304 on the final round to finish with a 901.
 
Missouri Southern State was third with a 299 in the final round to finish with a 911, while Southern Arkansas and Rogers State were tied for fourth with total scores of 913.
 
East Central was sixth with a 919 for the tourney and Northwestern Oklahoma State finished out the field with a 937.

Brendon Pittman put the finishing touches on an impressive debut for Rogers State. The junior from Tulsa, Oklahoma carded the second-lowest round of the season for the Hillcats, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to move up to fourth as an individual.

RSU closed round three with the same score as its opening round at 303 for a 913 total. Pittman ranked fourth in the field of 38 golfers by tallying 35 pars during the 54-hole tournament.

Alex Marsh posted a 3-over-par 75 while Patrick Bart fired a 79 in round three to finish inside the top 10 as the pair closed the event tied for ninth place with totals of 226. Marsh put up four birdies over the last 18 holes ending with a team-leading 12, ranking second in the field.
 
Eric Moore matched his opening round score of 78 to finish at 239 while Will Lecky posted a 90 for a 256 final score capping the day for the navy and red.
 
The Hillcats are back on the course, after a two-week break, Oct. 12-13 at the Newman Invitational played at Crestview Country Club.
