Sam Humphreys of Edmond, who will be a redshirt freshman at the University of Tulsa this fall, pulled off one of the biggest wins of his career Wednesday by prevailing in the Horseshoe Bay Collegiate Championship, an event on the Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour.

Humphreys shot rounds of 72-74-71 to finish at 217 and edge Sutherland Stith of Southwestern University by a single shot. Humphreys erased a five-shot deficit with his final round 71 at Ram Rock after the first two rounds were played at the Apple Rock course at the famous Austin resort.

Blake Elliott of Paris, Texas was third at 225.
