Maddi Kamas of Kingfisher fired a second-round 65 to erase a six-shot deficit and edge Lilly Whitley of Edmond by two shots in the John Conrad Labor Day Classic on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Monday. Kamas finished at 138 and Whitley (67-73) at 140.

Kamas battled illness throughout her opening round of 73 and was told by her parents to skip Monday’s final round and remain in bed. Instead she insisted on playing and wound up tying the course record set by Yujeong Son.

In the boys division, Cooper Schultz of Wichita shot rounds of 68-69 to edge Jordan Wilson of Edmond (70-68) by a shot. Jaxon Dowell of Edmond was third at 140, followed by a five-way tie at 141 of Jaxon Dowell of Edmond, Jack Glenn of Stillwater, James Roller of Jenks, Shane Herlihy of Edmond and Charlie Jackson of Norman. Jake Hopper of Norman edged Will Hennessee of Tulsa by a shot in the boys 12-14 age group.
