Kropp leads pack in Oklahoma Open

Will Kropp shot a 5-under-par 70 to grab the first-round lead in the 54-hole Oklahoma Open held on the East Course at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond.

Kropp, who set a competitive course record in a recent pro event at Shangri-La Resort, is on a break from a successful season of competing in the Latin American PGA Tour, from which he hopes to earn a battlefield promotion to the PGA Tour.

The former Oklahoma Sooner leads by one over Jeremy Dear, head professional at LaFortune Park Golf Course in Tulsa. Two back at 67 are Eli Armstrong of Edmond, Robby Ormand of Austin, Texas, Cameron Meyers of Edmond and Jackson Ogle of Edmond. Kropp and Meyers are two talented young pros who were former teammates at Edmond North, while Ogle played for Oklahoma Christian. Armstrong is a more recent Edmond North grad who now plays for the University of Central Oklahoma.
