Marsh Honored as Heartland Conference Player of the Week

WACO, Texas – Following a top-10 finish at the Oral Roberts Shootout, Rogers State’s Alex Marsh was named Heartland Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Week.

Marsh tied for eighth in a 76-player field that featured 11 NCAA Division I programs and two junior colleges helping the Hillcats to a sixth-place result as a team. The freshman carded a 78 in the first round Monday on a day where scores were inflated due to rain that fell consistently through the round. Marsh battled the elements to tie for 18th after the opening round, six shots back of the leader.
In the final round Tuesday, the Southampton, England native fired the seventh-best round of the day to climb 10 spots up the leaderboard to tie for eighth. He finished at even par with a 72 and was 1-under-par for the round until a bogey on his final hole of the tournament. Marsh was one of the top-three players in the field on par fives shooting 3-under-par for the event totaling a 4.63 scoring average.
The honor marks the fourth time this season a RSU men’s golfer has been named the best in the league for the week joining Hagen Barmasse and Henning Hogmoen as recipients.
The Hillcats close the 2014-15 season at the Heartland Conference Championships April 19-21, playing three rounds at Slick Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
