McAllister, Milligan are top qualifiers in Junior Amateur

Logan McAllister followed up a 4-under 66 with a 6-under 64 at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond to win the Stroke Play Championship portion of the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Championship and lead 16 qualifiers into match play beginning Wednesday.

Matthew Braley of Broken Arrow shot a second consecutive 66 to finish two shots back at 8-under 132, one shot ahead of Colter Baca of Edmond (69-64).

Ty Stites of Sallisaw was fourth at 134 (68-66) while Carson Seals of Ardmore was fifth at 135 (69-66). There were 30 rounds shot in the 60s by the junior players ages 14 through 18.

Match play began today with 16-player brackets for ages 14-15 and ages 16-18. 

On the girls side, Kaitlin Milligan of Norman fired a second-round 67 to edge ShaeBug Scarberry of Purcell by two shots. Milligan finished at 1-under 139 while Scarberry was second at 1-over 141. Taylor Dobson of Broken Arrow was third at 144 (72-72).

Match play began Wednesday and concludes on Thursday. The top four girls seeds have byes in the first round. Brackets are on the OGA website at www.okgolf.org.
