McCrary’s record 65 lifts OSU women into fourth in Windy City Collegiate

CHICAGO – A record-setting 7-under par 65 from Maddie McCrary powered the Oklahoma State women’s golf team into fourth place after 36 holes of the Windy City Collegiate.

McCrary, who carded a 6-over par 78 in the morning round, rebounded to post the bogey-free 65 in the afternoon, which broke the Westmoreland Country Club course record and tied for the third lowest round in school history. The sophomore’s rally vaulted her 55 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 18th place.

OSU’s afternoon round 12-under 276 tied last week’s opening round at the Schooner Fall Classic for the third lowest in school history. In fact, the Cowgirls have played seven competitive rounds this fall, and three of them rank among the top five scores in school history.

McCrary wasn’t the only Cowgirl playing well Monday. Freshman Chih-Min Chen tallied a 69-71 – 140 (-4) to send her into the clubhouse tied for seventh place. Linnea Johansson is just a stroke behind Chen in 12th place with rounds of 73-68 – 141 (-3).

Kenzie Neisen shot 74-72 – 146 (+2), while Emma Broze went 77-75 – 152 (+8) in her first action for the Cowgirls this fall.

OSU is seven strokes behind Georgia (14-under) for the lead, and will play one final round at Westmoreland Country Club on Tuesday.
