It took nearly 12 hours on a very rainy day in Edmond, but Jaxon Dowell and William McDonald advanced to the championship match of the boys 16-18 division of the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Boys and Girls Championship Thursday at Kickingbird Golf Course.

The championship matches, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, were pushed to Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m.

McDonald, of Oklahoma City, prevailed 3 and 2 over Eric Schuessler of Stillwater 3 and 2, while Dowell rolled past Bosten Benn of Edmond 6 and 4.

Brookly Benn of Edmond made clutch putts down the stretch and won the final two holes to edge Jenni Roller of Jenks 1 up in the girls semifinals, while Alyssa Wilson of Yukon edged Raychel Nelke of Pocola 2 and 1.

The boys 14-15 division will pitt Ryan Cowan of Edmond against Jake Hopper of Norman. Cowan defeated Brooksie Levonitis of Oklahoma City 5 and 4, while Hopper downed Tripp Schuessler of Stillwater 4 and 2.

Rain forced players off the course before 10 a.m. and play could not resume until after 5 p.m. due to persistent storms that caused flooding in Oklahoma City and Edmond.
