With plenty of talent but no past champions in the field, there will be a new name in the record book at the conclusion of the 2018 Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship Thursday at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa.
The event begins Monday with qualifying rounds to set the field for match play. The 8 a.m. tee time of University of Oklahoma golfers Kaitlin Milligan and Sydney Youngblood along with Faith Hopkins of Bartlesville, who is heading to Oklahoma State on a golf scholarship, shows that the battle will be hard fought.
Kate Goodwin of Tulsa, who has enjoyed a strong college career at Oklahoma Christian, is in the second group along with Faith Belmear and Lexi Armon of Owasso. Belmear is heading to Missouri State Unviersity while Armon plays for Northeastern State in Tahlequah.
Faith Stewart of Edmond, Natalie Gough of Bixby, Goodwin’s OC teammate Elizabeth Freeman, Taylor Dobson of the University of Tulsa and Melissa Eldredge of Oklahoma City University are just a few of the other talented golfers in the field.
