Muskogee junior gets lesson from Calcavecchia, will appear on Golf Channel show Tuesday

Ty Glover, an 11-year-old junior golfer at Muskogee Country Club, spent a few hours absorbing the wisdom of PGA Tour veteran Mark Calcavecchia last Thursday at the Bass Pro Legends of Golf at Top of the Rock in Branson.

The lesson will be shown on The Golf Channel at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as part of The Champions Tour Learning Center, a weekly feature.

Calcavecchia has long been the favorite golfer of Ty’s father Craig Glover, a member at Muskogee CC. Craig said Ty began tweeting his swing and questions to Calcavecchia last year, eventually resulting in the invite to be on the show.

Ty plays in PGA South Central Section junior events as well as for Muskogee in the PGA Junior League. He has been playing since he was six.

“He was nervous as could be but Mark went out of his way to make him feel comfortable,” Craig Glover said. “He spent a lot of time with him after the filming as well. It was just a great experience.”
