Janine Stange to sing Star Spangled Banner in all 50 states; Oklahoma is her 33rd stop
OWASSO, Okla. – Janine Stange, also known as "The National Anthem Girl" through her goal to sing it in all 50 states, will check Oklahoma off her list when she sings the Star Spangled Banner at the fifth annual Patriot Cup golf tournament Monday (May 26) at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso.
"After meeting several of our American heroes, I felt called to this mission," said Stange. "I consider it a privilege to sing our National Anthem, rather than a routine. I’m honored to spend Memorial Day in Owasso honoring the sacrifices of our military and their families."
Stange’s goal is to make history by performing the National Anthem in all 50 states before September 14, 2014, which marks the 200th anniversary of the Francis Scott Key’s creation of the Star Spangled Banner. Her mission to promote patriotism has caught the attention of both local and national media outlets, including morning talk show FOX & Friends.
"It is an honor to have Janine with us this Memorial Day to sing our Star Spangled Banner and kick off the fifth annual Patriot Cup," said Major Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder. "She is a true patriot with a noble mission and cause – to remind fellow Americans that the men and women of our military have sacrificed to provide us with the freedoms we enjoy."
Stange will also perform at the Patriot Cup Gala preceding the golf tournament on Sunday, May 25 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
