NSU fourth, UCO fifth in MIAA Fall Preview

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma women’s golf team finished fifth at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association 2016 Fall Preview on Tuesday.

Lindenwood won the team title with a score of 609, UCO finished at 631. Northeastern State, behind a tie for fifth by Baylee Price, moved ahead of UCO into fourth place.

Central Oklahoma’s Marla Souvannasing finished third individually with a final score of 148, four shots behind the leaders.

Missouri Western’s Shi Qing Ong and Central Missouri’s Olivia Sobaski both finished 144 before Sobaski won medalist honors on a sudden death playoff hole.

Souvannasing was close to the top spot throughout the two-day event. The junior shot a 4-over 75 on Monday in the first round, and climbed higher with a 2-over 73 in Tuesday’s final round.

The Bronchos were in second-place and had four golfers in the top-20 after the first round. Grace Shin was the only other Broncho to remain there.

Shin finished tied for 18th after shooting two consecutive 8-over 79’s. Camilla Schou shot an 80 in both rounds. Her 160 left her in a tie for 25th.

The two freshman finished 38th and 57th respectively. Anna Pool shot a 78 on day one, but an 87 on Tuesday. Sydney Roberts shot a 83 in the first round and an 89 in the final round.

The Bronchos return home and will host the RCB Classic at the Golf Club of Edmond next Monday and Tuesday.
