NSU in seventh in Lindenwood; ORU ninth in Las Cruces

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Tyler Shelnutt is tied for ninth place with play stopped in the second round due darkness on Monday at the Lindenwood Invitational.  Northeastern State is in seventh place with four of its five golfers completing their second round and 13 teams left to finish up their round yet.

Shelnutt led for part of the day and shot a 69 in the morning; he had three double-bogeys and a pair of birdies to give him a 76 in the afternoon.  Tate Williamson picked up four shots from his 75 on the first 18-holes to card an even score; he is tied for twelfth overall.

Navid Majidizadeh is tied for 47th place with a 156 (77-79) and Bryce Newton landed in a tie for 66th place scoring a 159 (79-80).  Griffen Matthias had three holes left in his round before play was stopped, he shot an 80 in the morning. 

The RiverHawks scored a 300 in the opening round and presently Central Missouri leads the field by seven shots over Missouri-St. Louis; NSU is 37 shots back.

Play will resume on Tuesday with the completion of the second round and the final round following. 

ORU sits ninth in Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Two of the best rounds of the season put the Oral Roberts men’s golf team in ninth place after two rounds of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Monday. ORU shot 292-294–586 on day one of the event while Grand Canyon holds a 12 shot lead as the only team under par as a team, shooting 277-280–557. 

Cody Burrows finished under par in both rounds and is tied for second after a second round 67 to finish the day at 137 (-5).

Burrows’ 67 was tied for the second best round of the day. Only individual leader Matt McClung tapped it with an opening round 65. Burrows is tied for the lead in the field in par 3 scoring (2.75) and fourth in total birdies (9) after two rounds.
