NSU second, UCO fourth in Central Region Spring Preview

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 13-ranked Northeastern State women’s golf team slotted into second place after Monday’s opening round of the NCAA Division II Central Region Spring Preview, which is being held at the par-72, 5,911-yard Rivercut Golf Course.

The RiverHawks fired an opening-round score of 23-over-par 311 to land two strokes back of No. 19 Augustana. No. 33 Arkansas Tech is third at 27-over 315, and No. 47 Lindenwood and No. 25 Central Oklahoma are tied for fourth at 30-over 318.

Junior Baylee Price sits atop the individual leaderboard after shooting a tourney-best 1-over 73. She is currently two strokes clear of the field.

Senior Kayla Schroeder, who is making her first appearance in the lineup this season, shot 5-over 77 and is tied for fifth. Fellow senior Charter Lawson shot 7-over 79 and is tied for 15th, while true freshman Kelsey Lumpkin sits T-32 after carding 10-over 82. True freshman Ebba Moberg rounded out the team score at 11-over 83 to land in a tie for 40th.

Grace Shin’s opening-round 77 helped Central Oklahoma to a fourth-place showing.

The Bronchos had a 318 total after one trip around the par-72 Rivercut Course Golf Club and trails leader Augustana by nine strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round. 

Shin’s 75 has her tied for seventh in the individual standings, while Marla Souvannasing is tied for ninth after an opening 78.  The Bronchos also got an 80 from Daniela Martinez, while Makena Mucciaccio shot 83 and Camilla Schou 88.

Right behind UCO is Southwestern Oklahoma State in sixth place, led by Emily Folsom’s 76, good for a tie for third individually.

Southern Nazarene shot a 341 and are in 13th place. Cassidy Herbster led the way for SNU with an 81 which leaves her tied for 28th. Marion Broedys is tied for 44th at 84 while both Emilee White and Rachel Donaldson are tied for 69th at 88. Ashley Moore is tied for 88th at 92.
