NSU signs three, including Nina Lee of Collinsville

TAHLEQUAH – The Northeastern State golf programs have signed three during the 2017 early signing period, head coach Scott Varner announced on Friday.

In the women’s program, Amber Bruins (Nijverdal, Netherlands) and Nina Lee (Collinsville, Okla.) signed on to play for the RiverHawks as freshman starting in the 2018-19 season.  Bruins won at national championship for Sallandsche Golf Club in The Netherlands in 2017 by a 5-4 score in match play Broekpolder.

Lee was the Metro Lakes Conference Champion as a junior scoring a 72 and a State 5A runner-up at Quail Creek.  She was also a two-time OGA Junior State semifinalist and will be among the top contenders to win Class 5A this upcoming spring.

Tyler Ashman is an early signee for the RiverHawks in the men’s program coming from Clovis, Calif. at Buchanan High School.

The RiverHawks are midway through their 20th season under the leadership of Varner who has led his teams to 11 conference championships.
