OCU’s Seals wins Dornick Hills Classic

ARDMORE, Okla. – Carson Seals of Oklahoma City University broke through with his second career victory in the Dornick Hills Classic on Tuesday at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club.

Seals, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., played in his first college event at Dornick Hills in his hometown. Seals secured the win by five shots for the Stars, ranked third in NAIA men’s golf.

Seals shot a 69-68-69–206 to win for the first time since The Mid-South on Sept. 24-25, 2018. Seals tied for first through regulation of The Mid-South, but fell in a playoff. Seals finished among the top five for the second time in three starts this season.

All three Stars in the tournament played as individuals. David Meyers of OCU finished tied for fourth place by posting a 75-73-71–219. Meyers, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, notched his second consecutive top-five showing of the season and fourth top-five finish in a row dating back to last season.

The Stars’ Sam Tarpley, a redshirt freshman from Pollock, La., put together an 86-94-82–262.

Oklahoma City competes in the Southern Plains Intercollegiate on Oct. 28-29 at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
