The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour, one of the instrumental forces in turning Oklahoma into a national junior golf power in terms of college players produced, has added a spring series of six events.
The OJGT Spring Series starts Feb. 21-22 with the Lincoln Park East Spring Classic. All events will be held on weekends so as not to conflict with high school tournaments and the final event will be April 18-19 at Bailey Ranch, finishing before regionals and state playoffs begin.
The top 12 boys and top six girls from the east and west portions of the state will qualify for a final event, the first-annual Oklahoma Junior Cup Matches, which will be held at Shawnee Country Club on May 24-25. Honorary captains for the teams will be First Tee of Tulsa director Janice Gibson for the East team and Ken Carson for the West team.
OJGT Executive Director Morri Rose said the response to the new series has been outstanding, with the field for the first event full and other filling up fast. To enter, go to www.okgolf.org.
