Oklahoma Wesleyan women win first KCAC Tournament title

GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s golf team captured its first ever KCAC Tournament title, after securing the victory with an 11-shot advantage over Kansas Wesleyan University at the KCAC Championship #2.

The winner of the out-right KCAC Championship is determined by combined scores from two different tournaments played throughout the year. The first, KCAC Championship #1, was played on March 20-21 at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas. Oklahoma Wesleyan won that tournament by finishing with an overall team score of 660 (+92) and finishing 28 shots ahead of Kansas Wesleyan.

At the KCAC Championship #2, the Lady Eagles compiled a team score of 672 (+96) at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas and finished first. After combining the two team scores, Oklahoma Wesleyan won the overall KCAC Championship by 39 strokes.

Individually at the KCAC Championship #1, Kaylee Hacker was the top finisher for Oklahoma Wesleyan as she finished in second place overall with a total score of 162 (+20). Hacker followed that up with a 163 (+19) score at the KCAC Championship #2, where she also placed second.

The Lady Eagles have now qualified for the 2017 NAIA Women’s Golf Championships, which will take place PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on May 23rd thru May 26th.
