Oklahomans to pursue Web.com Tour cards at second stage of Q School

The second stage of qualifying for the 2017 Web.com Tour will take place Nov. 1-4 and Nov. 8-11. Several Oklahomans who advanced through first stage will be competing in one of the five second-stage sites for a chance to advance to the final stage Dec. 8-11 at Orange County National and earn a Web.com Tour card for 2017.

Trent Whitekiller of Sallisaw shot 21-under in St. George, Utah, to tie for sixth and advance in one of the final first-stage events. He is a former Oklahoma State All-America.

Cameron Meyers of Edmond tied for 17th at the first stage event at The Woodlands near Houston to advance. Meyers, a former OGA State Amateur champion and All-American at Oklahoma City University, shot 5-under for the event (69-68-70-76) and was in contention for the lead until a harrowing stretch over the final six holes.

Golf Oklahoma had previously reported that other players with Oklahoma ties had advanced at earlier first-stage events. At the Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas, former University of Oklahoma golfer Michael Gellerman shot 12-under par and finished tied for 10th. Also in that event, Will Kropp of Edmond shot 10-under and tied for 18th, while a pair of former University of Tulsa golfers advanced on the number as Stephen Carney of Tulsa and Chris Worrell of Jenks shot -9 and tied for 23rd.

Former University of Central Oklahoma golfer Josh Creel shot 6-under par in a first stage event in Nebraska City to tie for 16th and advance to second stage. Former Oklahoma State golfer Jordan Niebrugge shot 4-under and tied for 28th and will have to find a different path. Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City tied for 38th at 1-under, Ian Davis of Edmond tied for 45th at even par, former OU golfer Luke Kwon tied for 49th at 1 over and Taylor Artman of Norman finished 73rd at 7 over.

Qualifying through his standing on the MacKenzie Tour in Canada was Dillon Rust of Edmond, while former Sooner Charlie Saxon of Tulsa advanced from a qualifier in China.
