ORU finishes second to Denver in Summit League Championship

SEASIDE, Calif. – Nearly halfway through the final round, the Oral Roberts women’s golf team had rallied and gotten within two shots of leader Denver, but the Golden Eagles were unable to complete the comeback on the back nine and took second at the 2015 Summit League Championship. Denver won the team championship with a score of 926 (307-312-307) while four of ORU’s five golfers bogeyed 18 to give ORU a 54-hole score of 944 (307-320-317).

Paola Aviles nearly claimed the wire-to-wire victory, but was overtaken at the end to finish second overall at 229 (74-77-76). It was her first top five finish of the season and she led the field in par 3 scoring (3.08) and birdies (8). All five ORU golfers finished in the top 25 of the tournament.

Aviles and Acosta were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
