ORU finishes seventh at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif.  – The Oral Roberts men’s golf team shot its best score of the tournament and tied for the fourth-best Sunday score as the Golden Eagles moved up to a seventh place finish out of 20 teams at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. ORU finished at 888 (302-296-290) while Kansas led from start to finish and won the team title at 866 (285-290-291).  The tournament was held at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Among the six teams that finished ahead of ORU, three were Big 12 schools that took first, second and fourth overall. 

Cody Burrows posted the best tournament of his career and carded the best 54-hole score by a Golden Eagle in four tournaments this year. Burrows tied for the lead in total pars made with 41.

Will Starkey used a 69 in the final round to post not only his first round under par, but also finished off the best tournament of his career as well as the freshman finished at 225.

ORU will be back in action next week at the Colin Montgomerie Invite at Cypresswood Country Club in Houston, Texas.
