ORU slips into 10th place in Southland Conference

McKINNEY, Texas –  After shooting 311 in the first round, the Oral Roberts University men’s golf team sits in 10th place at the 2014 Southland Conference Championship at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

Sam Houston State opened up a big lead on day one, shooting a two-over par 290 to take the team lead. Pep Angles of Central Arkansas leads the individual race with a 68 in the first round.
Blake Brorman’s first round 76 put him in a tie for 18th, while David Holtgrewe finished the day a shot back of his teammate at 77, tied for 27th.  Parker Dolezal finished the day at 78, tied for 34th while Anthony Skirk shot 80 on Monday to tie for 48th. Scott Newell, who led ORU in three of the last four tournaments, shot 83 in the first round and is tied for 53rd.
