SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team finished the fall season on top as they cruised to victory at the 2013 MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday. With a one shot lead after the first round, the Golden Eagles extended it as they finished round two and played round three on Tuesday, winning by 14 shots, posting a 54-hole total of 891 (296-296-299).

ORU was the only team to post three sub-300 rounds in the tournament and put all five golfers in the top 20 of the individual standings. It is the first tournament victory for the Golden Eagles since the 2012 Summit League Championship.

A career best 68 from Alejandra Acosta helped the sophomore to a fourth place finish at 220 (75-68-77), while Paty Torres posted a seventh place finish at 224 (72-75-77). Alheli Moreno’s even par final round put her two shots back of her teammate in a tie for eighth at 226 (77-77-72). Shinwoo Lee tied for 11th overall at 227 (72-76-79) and Paola Aviles turned in a solid third round to move up into a tie for 16th at 230 (77-80-73).

The tournament concluded the fall schedule for the women’s golf team as the Golden Eagles will pick back up in early February.
