ORU women climb to second, men finish seventh

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.  – The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team finished second overall at the Blue Raider Invitational, edging past UALR in the final round to top the Trojans by a shot. ORU finished the tournament at 895 (295-299-301) while Middle Tennessee State won its own tournament with a 54-hole score of 873 (296-293-284), claiming four of the top five spots in the individual standings.

News & Notes
– ORU earned its fourth top-5 team finish in as many tournaments during the fall season. ORU finished 5th in the first tournament of the year, second in the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout and won the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial.
– Alejandra Acosta was sixth in overall birdies made with eight.
– Kennedy Ishee finished the tournament tied for third with 39 pars.

 

LAS CRUCES, N.M.  – All five golfers came in at 75 or below, including a final round 68 from Trevor Torgerson, as the Oral Roberts University men’s golf team finished in a tie for seventh at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate at the New Mexico State University Golf Course. While New Mexico (276-284-274–834) ran away with the team title, ORU (283-288-290–861) tied Abilene Christian and Western New Mexico.
 
Torgerson led the field in par 3 scoring at -3 (2.75) and moved up 21 spots in the individual standings into a tie for 48th overall with his 68 on Tuesday.
