RAYMORE, Mo. – The fifth best round in school history—and the third best on a par 72 course—put the Oral Roberts women’s golf team in the lead after 36 holes at the Kansas City Intercollegiate, Monday. ORU shot 580 (292-288, +4) on the opening day and holds a 16-shot lead over the rest of the field entering the final round, Tuesday.

Beatriz Garcia carded a career best 68 in the first round with seven birdies, five of which were on the back nine. She followed that up with a 69 in round two to hold the individual lead.

ORU has the top two golfers, and three in the top 10 after Sarah Bell shot 142 (72-70) and trails only her teammate. All seven ORU golfers are in the top 30 individually.

Playing as an individual, Rachel Dupree finished the day two over and in a tie for fourth place. With Annie Lacombe finishing the day tied for 28, ORU has two of the top three individuals of the tournament in addition to the team lead.

ORU matched its best round on a par 72 course with a 292 in the opening round, and topped it by shooting 288 in the second round. Only once this year have the Golden Eagles shot better and it was a school record tying 282 on the par 71 course at the Texas State Invitational to start the spring.
