ORU women place second in Bob Hurley ORU Shootout

TULSA, Okla.- The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team played well on Tuesday and moved up to a runner-up finish at the 2013 Bob Hurley ORU Shootout. Lamar (300-299-300–899) took a 14-shot victory and won the tournament for the second year in a row.

Sofie Kuarnstrom of UALR was the individual champion after firing an impressive 68 in the final round to take a six-shot victory.

The Golden Eagles shot their best round of the tournament with a 302 in the final round to finish at 913 (303-308-302) to edge Arkansas State by a shot for second place.

Paola Aviles carded a top-10 finish with a 226 (70-81-75) to tie for ninth overall, while Alejandra Acosta’s 74 put her in a tie for 12th, one shot back at 227 (79-74-74).

Shinwoo Lee finished the tournament at 231 (75-78-78) and tied for 21st, while Paty Torres was two shots back at 233 (79-76-78) and tied for 30th.

Alheli Moreno continued to improve and dropped 10 shots off her first round total, shooting 75 on Tuesday. Moreno’s 54-hole score of 240 (85-80-75) put her in a tie for 58th overall.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action for the Harold Funston Golf Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston State October 7-8.
