ORU women tie for first at Southern Utah title

ST GEORGE, Utah – With a runner-up finish in the individual standings Alheli Moreno led the Oral Roberts University women’s golf team to a co-championship, tying Weber State at 615 for the 36-hole tournament. ORU (305-310) and Weber State (314-301) held off the rest of the field, finishing two shots ahead of Southern Utah (308-309—617).
 
Moreno followed up her first round 74 with a 75, coming in at 149 for the tournament, for shots back of Marrisa Borja from Eastern Washington, who took home medalist honors. Paola Aviles’ total of 154 (76-78) put her in a tie for 11th, while Shinwoo Lee carded a 157 (77-80) to take 17th.
 
Alejandra Acosta shot 161 (78-83), tying for 28th and Paty Torres improved nine shots to card a 163 (86-77), tying for 33rd.
 
ORU will have just a couple of days off while they travel to Primm, Nev., for the 5th Annual Jackrabbit Invitational March 17-18.
