STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team used a 291 during its second round at the NCAA Stillwater Regional on Tuesday to extend its lead at Karsten Creek.

The top-seeded Cowboys entered the day with a seven-shot cushion over the field at the par-72, 7,418-yard layout. With an even-par total of 576, OSU will enter tomorrow’s final round with a 12-shot advantage over Oklahoma. The Sooners wrapped up the day at 12-over 588 after posting a 296, while Purdue carded a 299 to finish at 602 and in third place.

Through 36 holes, only three players in the field hold under-par totals with two of those being OSU sophomores Stratton Nolen and Kristoffer Ventura.

Nolen followed his opening 68 with a 1-over 73 to maintain a share of the lead at 3-under 141. UMKC’s Antoine Rozner posted a 71 to join Nolen atop the leaderboard.

Ventura moved up two spots into sole possession of third place at 1-under 143 after turning in an even-par 72 during his second round.

Senior Jordan Niebrugge carded the squad’s low round of the day with a 71 to move up 10 spots into sixth place at 1-over 145.

Sophomore Sam Stevens signed for a 75 during his second round to stand at 147 and in sole possession of seventh place.

Sophomore Brendon Jelley rounded out the OSU starting five with a 77 to finish in a tie for 24th place at 153.

The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow morning at 8:45 a.m. and will be grouped with Oklahoma and Purdue.

The Sooners, who are competing as the No. 3 seed, recorded a 296 Tuesday, the second-best round of the day behind only field-leader Oklahoma State, to bring their 36-hole total to 588.

“It was a really good day for Brad [Dalke] and Max [McGreevy], and they allowed for us to have a good team round,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We need another solid day and to try to go win a championship tomorrow.”

Junior Max McGreevy and freshman Brad Dalke lead the Sooners, sharing fourth with a 144 (E). McGreevy bookended the second round strong, opening with an eagle on hole No. 1 and ending with consecutive birdies on holes No. 17 and 18 to end the day with a 71. Dalke carded a consistent 72 for the second day in a row, pocketing four birdies.

Grant Hirschman is in 12th place with an overall 149. The sophomore posted a 76 on Tuesday. Two strokes behind Hirschman is freshman Blaine Hale, who tallied a 77 in the second round and now holds a share of 15th.

Senior Luke Kwon struggled in Tuesday’s round, shooting an 83. He sits in a tie for 47th place with an overall 160.
