Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team moved up the leaderboard on the final day of action on Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters to finish tied for second place with Stanford at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
The Cowboys posted a 1-under 287 to finish at 24-over 888 and two shots behind tournament champion UNLV. The Rebels closed with a 294 to finish at 886 at the par-72, 7,374-yard layout. For OSU, the runner-up performance snapped a four-tournament winning streak, but stretched the Cowboys’ string of top-3 finishes to seven consecutive events.
Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers took home medalist honors after a final round of 74 gave him a 217 total and a two-stroke victory.
OSU’s Wyndham Clark finished in a six-way tie for second place at 219 after finishing with a 70. For the redshirt freshman, the finish marked his sixth consecutive top six performance and was his second runner-up showing of the year.
Joining Clark in the top 10 was sophomore Jordan Niebrugge, who closed with a 71 to finish at 4-over 220 and tied for eighth place. Niebrugge’s finish gave him his third consecutive top-10 performance.
Freshman Zachary Olsen shaved 11 strokes off his Saturday score, posting a 70 to finish at 226 and tied for 26th place.
Senior Ian Davis closed with a 77 to come in tied for 42nd place at 229, while classmate Talor Gooch was a stroke back at 230 and tied for 48th after signing for a 76.
Senior Kevin Dougherty competed individually and tied for 42nd place with Davis after closing with a 73.
The Cowboys will be back in action on March 14 at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
