OSU’s McCrary flies high in Windy City Collegiate Classic

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Oklahoma State’s Maddie McCrary birdied the 16th and 18th holes at Northmoor Country Club to win the Windy City Collegiate Classic individual championship – her first title in a Cowgirl uniform.

The senior began the final round in a tie for third place, and after a bogey on No. 2, shot 3-under on the next 16 holes to out-duel All-American Linnea Strom of Arizona State for the win. McCrary finished the event with a career-low score of 6-under 207, which is tied for the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history.

This marks the 87th individual tournament title in Cowgirl golf history, and the first since Kenzie Neisen won the 2016 Big 12 Championship.

As a team, the No. 8 ranked Cowgirls finished second to No. 4 Arizona State at 4-over 856, which is the eighth-best 54-hole team score in OSU history. Five of the top 10 54-hole scores in school history have now come under fifth-year head coach Courtney Jones.

McCrary was joined in the top 10 by freshman Stephanie Astrup and fellow senior Kenzie Neisen. Astrup posted an eagle on No. 16 and a birdie on No. 18 to finish seventh at even par 213. Neisen was just a stroke behind in eighth place thanks to rounds of 66-71-77 – 214.

The Cowgirls will return to action at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 16-18 in Palo Alto, California.
