IRVING, Texas – On the heels of capturing the Big 12 individual crown last weekend, Stratton Nolen was named the league’s Big 12 Golfer of the Month it was announced today.

A native of Austin, Texas, Nolen entered the Cowboy lineup for the Big 12 Championship and posted scores of 71, 73, 68 and 70 to finish at 282 (-6) and become OSU’s ninth Big 12 champion and the 47th conference medalist in program history.

He also competed individually at the ORU Shootout, where he posted his first top 10 of the spring, an eighth place finish, after carding rounds of 71, 77, 73 for a 5-over total of 221.

He competed individually at The Maxwell as well, where he tied for fourth place after firing a career-low 66 during the opening round and a 71 during his second round to finish at 3-under (137).

STILLWATER- Spurred by her second straight conference individual championship, Kenzie Neisen was named the Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Month, the league announced on Thursday.

The monthly award is the first for Neisen, but the 13th for Oklahoma State since the league began naming a Golfer of the Month in 2002-03. The last Cowgirl to win the award was Julie Yang in Sept. of 2013.

Neisen capped off a fantastic April with a final-round 66 to claim her second consecutive Big 12 individual championship. The sophomore joined fellow Cowgirl Annie Thurman-Young (2004 and 2005) as the only back-to-back Big 12 individual champion in league history.

Neisen’s 6-under 66 on Sunday tied for the lowest round in Big 12 Championship history, and her nine-under 207 final score broke the previous record by a stroke. She posted 15 birdies on the weekend, including five straight in the final round.

Not just a one-tournament wonder, Neisen posted a 71.00 stroke average for the month of April. She finished sixth at the SMU/DAC Invitational with a 76-68-75 – 219 (+3) to help the Cowgirls claim that event’s championship. She followed that with a pair of match-play wins to help OSU take down rival Oklahoma in a 13.5-2.5 Bedlam Cup win. Neisen defeated Ana Ruiz, 6&7, and Rylee Pedigo, 2&1, to improve her career match-play record to 6-1-1.

Neisen, who was named to the All-Big 12 Women’s Golf Team for a second straight season, and her Cowgirl teammates will play the second round of the NCAA Shoal Creek Regional on Friday.
