BRADENTON, Fla. — Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team closed play at the NCAA Championship on Monday with a 304 during its third round to finish tied for 19th place at Concession Golf Club.
The Cowboys, who were unable to finish their round Sunday, returned to the par-72, 7,483-yard layout on Monday morning to complete play. The field was cut to 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on those teams after 54 holes.
Monday’s fourth round produced the individual NCAA champion as well as the eight teams for the match play bracket, which will determine the team champion.
SMU’s Bryson Dechambeau won the individual crown at 8-under 280, while Illinois, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Texas, Southern California, South Florida, LSU and UCLA all advanced to the match play portion of the event.
OSU’s Zachary Olsen posted a 75 during his third round to stand at 1-over 217 and tied for 19th place to secure one of the individual spots for the final round.
The sophomore closed with an even-par 72 to finish at 1-over 289 and tied for 16th place.
After carding a bogey at the second, Olsen moved back to even for the day with a birdie at the fourth and moved into red figures for the first time with a birdie at the fifth. A birdie at the seventh gave Olsen an outward nine of 2-under 36.
A bogey at the 10th brought Olsen back to 1-under for the day. After five consecutive pars, he carded a bogey at the 16th to move back to level for the round. Olsen posted a pair of pars to close his round and tally an inward nine of 2-over 38.
Junior Jordan Niebrugge carded this third 75 in a row to finish in a tie for 71st place at 225.
Freshman Kristoffer Ventura signed for a 77 to come in tied for 84th place at 227, while redshirt freshman Brendon Jelley finished with an 82 to stand at 232 and tied for 113th place.
Sophomore Wyndham Clark’s closing 77 tied him for 145th place at 238.
