NORMAN – Through nearly two rounds of play at the Gopher Invitational, the No. 3 Oklahoma men’s golf team is in third place among the 15-team field. The event is being played over two days at the par-71, 7388-yard Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn.

The second round of the event started Sunday afternoon, following the first round of action during the morning, but was suspended due to darkness. All 15 teams will resume their round Monday at 8:30 a.m. CT.

The Sooners completed the first round in eighth place at 292 (+8), but quickly moved up the team leaderboard in the second. At the time the second round was suspended, OU was third overall currently at even-par in the second round. Arkansas sits in first place at 1-over with Baylor in second at 3-over, five shots ahead of the Sooners.

“It was a really long day for us going from sun up to sun down, but our guys hung in there,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We did not play very well this morning as a whole, but we definitely did a good job during the afternoon.

“(Brad) Dalke and (Grant) Hirschman both had solid days for us and it was good to see Blaine (Hale) get it going in the second round. We are still in this tournament to win it and we will need another great round tomorrow to make that happen.”

Junior Brad Dalke is tied for eighth at even-par after shooting 71 in the first round. With one hole left in the second round, Dalke currently sits at even-par with four birdies on his card.

Senior Grant Hirschman carded a 72 (+1) during Sunday’s opening round and shot even par through 16 holes of the second round, placing him in a tie for 10th place.

After posting a 76 (+5) during the morning session, junior Blaine Hale rebounded and is currently at 3-under for the tournament. The junior carded four birdies and is at 2-under with two holes left in the second round.

Sophomore Riley Casey is tied for 26th place at 4-over. Casey posted a 73 (+2) during the first round and is 2-over through 16 holes in round two. Redshirt sophomore Quade Cummins sits in a tie for 77th at 13-over par with two holes remaining in the second round.

After round two is completed Monday morning, third-round play will tee off. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com<http://www.golfstat.com/home.html>.

Additionally, freshman Lane Wallace made his collegiate debut and carded a 153 (+9), completing 36 holes on Sunday and is tied for 20th place at the Gopher Individual. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6953-yard Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Minn.
